This drawing is from the opening pages of a book of poetry written by Morris Rosenfeld. The title page is missing in my copy, but I believe the book is titled ‘Gesammelte Lieder’. It is dated 1904 and is written in Yiddish. I find the drawing poignant because while we have made great strides in workers’ rights in America, we continue to fight a system where a piece of every worker’s income is funneled upward into the coffers of a small percentage of citizens who cannot conceivably earn this wealth.
