Anthony Giacchino and Robert Scott Frawley mailed letters to the victims who perished 100 years ago. Of the 146 letters mailed to the victims’ original addresses, 133 returned. Giacchino explains: So many of the victims have been personally forgotten – and the somewhat impersonal postal “return” stamps underscore this point. The project is an attempt to visualize the enormity of lost lives as well as to help erase the fire victims’ present-day anonymity.
