Violet was to be married a week later. Her mother was so heartbroken that she sent her youngest child, my Uncle Sam, to identify her body. I have worked in the occupational health and safety field for 40 years, but didn’t know I had lost a relative in the disaster until 15 years ago. The archive indicates she was a union member. I believe she would want her union affiliation to follow her name on the memorial. I hope folks can help me find out which union.
