In 2007, on the Triangle fire anniversary, I saw a news piece commemorating the event, a brief mention before commercial. I was about to change the channel when the plot of this play materialized in my head, and I scrambled to write it. I sent it to a theater company I was affiliated with, and it was staged that summer. No one in my family has a connection to the Triangle factory or anyone who worked there. I can only assume that Miriam, or someone like her, was speaking through me to tell her story.
