This is a very interesting article regarding Max Blanck and Isaac Harris’ defense attorney Max Steuer. “How Did you Get your First Job?” poses this question to Max Steuer and other prominent New Yorkers of 1910. It describes Steuer as the child of a sweatshop tailor who “from nine to three he went to school, and from three to nine he worked at the sweatshop.” (The Ogden Standard Newspaper-reprinted from The New York Herald-1910 )
