My grandmother, Lucia Grimaldi, was in the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire on March 25, 1911 and survived by jumping from the roof of the burning building to the roof of a neighboring building 2 stories lower. She saw girls jumping out windows into nets and not surviving and realized this was the only way. She said the fire escape door was locked because it was Saturday. She remembers the foreman as a very mean man.
