My Grandmother Emeilia (Mildred) Cuneo Parentini was born in 1894 and died in 1995. She lived on East Eighth street and she witnessed the fire standing on a bench across from the building. It haunted her for the rest of her life. She told me that she thought bundles of burning clothes were being thrown out of the building, when she realized the workers were jumping she couldn’t look away. I know that she would never want anyone ever to forget what happened that day.
