“This newsletter is from the big ILGWU rally in Chinatown in 1982. This is walking on Canal and Mott and Bayard Streets to Columbia Park. The slogan is “We are One” – one family. This newsletter is to help organize and educate the members about their rights – how to become a citizen, how to vote. In order to fight for your rights, you’ve got to understand what they are. For immigrants, they have no knowledge of what the union is, what their rights are. They just work hard.”
