The tremendous public outcry following the Triangle Fire tragedy led New York State to enact many of the first worker protection laws in the nation. At the 99th anniversary ceremony at the Empire State Plaza in Albany, State Labor Commissioner Colleen Gardner joined state legislative and union leaders to acknowledge the importance of the fire, which significantly changed worker protection laws and led to the creation of the New York State Department of Labor.
